After creating your account and adding your entries to the system, you must pay your entry fee(s). Accepted payment methods are:

Entry Acceptance Rules

Each entry will consist of 2 - 12 to 22 ounce capped bottles or corked bottles that are void of all identifying information, including labels. Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely.

12 oz brown glass bottles are preferred; however, green and clear glass will be accepted. Swing top bottles will likewise be accepted as well as corked bottles, but no corked bottles will be allowed that have threaded necks.

All entries become the property of the Schooner. Entries(bottles) will not be returned for any reason.

Completed entry forms and recipe sheets must be submitted with all entries, and can be printed directly from this website. Entry forms should be attached to bottles with a rubber band only; glue and/or tape are unacceptable.

Please fill out the entry forms completely. Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges' scoring of your entry.

Brewers are not limited to one entry in each category but may only enter each subcategory once. No limit on number of entries per brewer other than - only 1 entry per sub category. 

Recipes are only required if your beer is selected to be brewed by *. Entrant retains rights to his or her recipe. * may tweak recipe to fit their brewing system. Beer brewed by * remains property of *. * does NOT retain rights to the winning recipe.

The competition committee reserves the right to combine categories based on number of entries. All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles. All brews in combined categories will be judged according to the style they were originally entered in.

Packing and Shipping

Carefully pack your entries in a sturdy box. Line the inside of your carton with a plastic trash bag. Partition and pack each bottle with adequate packaging material. Please do not over pack!

Write clearly: "Fragile. This Side Up." on the package. Please refrain from using "messy" packaging materials such a Styrofoam "peanuts" or pellets; please use packaging material such as bubble wrap.

Enclose each of your bottle labels in a small zip-top bag before attaching to their respective bottles. This way it makes it possible for the organizer to identify specifically which entry has broken if there is damage during shipment.

Every reasonable effort will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have broken to make arrangements for sending replacement bottles.

If you live in the United States, please note that it is illegal to ship your entries via the United States Postal Service (USPS). Private shipping companies have the right to refuse your shipment if they are informed that the package contains glass and/or alcoholic beverages. Be aware that entries mailed internationally are often required by customs to have proper documentation. These entries might be opened and/or returned to the shipper by customs' officials at their discretion. It is solely the entrant's responsibility to follow all applicable laws and regulations.

Best of Show

There will be awards for the Best of Show, Second Best of Show, and Third Best of Show. This year's contest is limiited to beer only, no meads or ciders will be accepted.

Your winning entry may be brewed at Rock Bottom Brewery in Milwaukee, Rustic Road Brewery in Kenosha, or Public Craft Brewing in Kenosha. Each brewery will have their choice of top ten finishers to choose from!

One beer will be chosen from the "Best of Show" beers to be ramped up and brewed with Dave at Rock Bottom. We will design a logo, fill a keg, and have a party for 20 of your friends.

*Grand prize beer entry will need to provide a complete recipe to Schooner. Entrant is responsible for transportation to and from Rock Bottom's 1/2 barrel party.

Awards

Not just one, but three of the Best of Show finishers may be brewed by Rock Bottom Brewery, Rustic Road Brewery, and Public Craft Brewing - local microbreweries in Milwaukee and Kenosha. In addition to all the other prizes being awarded, Lakefront Brewery is sponsoring four categories, and giving $25 gift certificates to the winners of these categories:

American IPA
Schwarzbier
American Barleywine

The awards ceremony will take place at Great Lakes Brewfest after judging is completed.

Places will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category/table.

The 1st place entry in each category will advance to the Best of Show (BOS) round with a single, overall Best of Show beer selected on September 16.

Additional prizes may be awarded to those winners present at the awards ceremony at the discretion of the competition organizers.

Both score sheets and awards will be available for pick up that night after the ceremony concludes. Awards and score sheets not picked up will be mailed back to participants. Results will be posted to the competition web site after the ceremony concludes.

We will attempt to award prizes to any winners in attendance at Great Lakes Brew Fest. In the event you are not in attendance, we will call you for delivery options. Local pickup is available at Hop To It, or we will mail to winners outside the immediate area.
