BOOTS
& FOOTWARE
This picture shows our garage/warehouse. We believe its original use was as a funeral home/undertaker. It also saw service as the City garage, The Journal Times garage, and several different liveries. The right side of the building was originally a lean-to shed, then bricked up for use as an office. Same time after the Great Racine Fire, when most anything constructed of wood downtown burned, a second floor was added to the right side of the building. Recent roof repairs have found much evidence of its fight to survive the fire, and most of the roof was heavily damaged. Newer lumber was scabbed to the burned timbers forming the roof, but will soon have to be replaced to make the building fully useful. The front garage door at some time was replaced with a squared off design. It is hoped we can have the old design reincorporated into the façade.
D P Wigley carries boots by MUCK BOOT COMPANY, including excellent boots for cleaning the dirtiest horse stalls. We have found these boots to be among the warmest weve ever worn (Arctic Sport, Edgewater, Fieldmaster, Muckmaster), and easiest to clean. We also have the standard yellow boots worn for fertilizer application, lawn and garden slipper type boots, and more.
